Felt making is an ancient process for making a dense, durable and warm fabric made of of 100% regenerative wool. which was used for clothing and to insulate homes such as the Mongolian yurt. The process uses wool fibre from sheep which shrinks and mats together when moisturised by black Moroccan or white Marsella soap, friction and heat are applied. Wherever its origin, it is clear that felt was, and is, an integral part of the lives of nomadic tribes in Asia and the Middle East. Felt was an essential element for shelter, clothing, hats, saddles, rugs, and other daily necessities.
